More about the course

Chemotherapy is an evidence-based therapy approach for the treatment of emotionally unstable personality disorder and anxious / evasive personality disorder.

In the Netherlands, chemotherapy is regarded as the "gold standard" in relation to this patient group. In Norway, schema therapy is mentioned in the national guidelines as a validated and recommended therapy approach for emotionally unstable personality disorder.

Several efficacy studies have shown that chemotherapy is an effective treatment for this patient group. Erlend Aschehoug will present the schematics vulnerability model for psychological development and maturation.

The conceptual model of basic emotional needs, early adaptive and maladaptive forms, mode and life context will be reviewed.

He will undergo significant moments in processing where the concept of mode or schema state is central. Mode is defined as a part of the self that is not fully integrated with other parts of the self. In chemotherapy, the therapeutic relationship is important. Refined care or limited repair and empathic confrontation as interventions will be reviewed.
