Learning Objectives

1. Participants will gain an understanding of key principles for case formulation in schematics.

2. Participants will receive a thorough review of the process during the survey phase.

3. Participants will learn through practical exercises how to gather significant information and put the different pieces together into one meaningful whole.

More about the course

The course provides a thorough introduction to the mapping work that forms the basis for case formulation in schematic therapy. Case formulation is an important process where the client and therapist in collaboration put meaningful elements in relation to each other in a meaningful way.

A good case formulation provides the best starting point for change work. The course will include both theoretical and practical representations of the various parts of the mapping process as defined in schematic therapy. Various approaches to gathering essential information will be demonstrated.

The Norwegian Psychological Association approved this course as 16 hours of maintenance. The course will be approved as an optional specialist and continuing education course by the Specialty Committee in Psychiatry and by the Specialty Committee in General Medicine by the Norwegian Medical Association.

About the lecturer


Erlend Aschehoug is a specialist in clinical psychology since 2007. Work at the Clinic for psychological treatment with individual therapy and group therapy. Works as a supervisor in cognitive behavioral therapy and Schema Therapy

Isst-standard

The education program is approved by the International Society of Schema Therapy (ISST) as a counselor for international certification in Schema Therapy. This course is mandatory to be certified.
